WHAT IS HWC MACT?
On
October 12, 2005, the United
States Environmental Protection Agency published in the Federal
Register the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air
Pollutants: Final Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Hazardous
Waste Combustors (Phase I Final Replacement Standards and Phase II);
Final Rule. This Rule, also referred to as the Rule
finalizing the Hazardous Waste Combustor (HWC) Maximum Achievable
Control Technology (MACT), Phase I Final Replacement Standards and Phase
II Rule.
The new HWC MACT Rules will impact all hazardous waste incinerators,
Boilers and Industrial Furnaces (BIFs) and other hazardous waste
combustion systems.
