WHAT IS HWC MACT?

On October 12, 2005, the United States Environmental Protection Agency published in the Federal Register the National Emission Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants: Final Standards for Hazardous Air Pollutants for Hazardous Waste Combustors (Phase I Final Replacement Standards and Phase II); Final Rule.  This Rule, also referred to as the Rule finalizing the Hazardous Waste Combustor (HWC) Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT), Phase I Final Replacement Standards and Phase II Rule. The new HWC MACT Rules will impact all hazardous waste incinerators, Boilers and Industrial Furnaces (BIFs) and other hazardous waste combustion systems.
